Position description
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UC Davis School of
Medicine is recruiting for a highly qualified accredited orthopedic
sports medicine and/or shoulder/elbow fellowship-trained surgeon
with experience to complement its comprehensive MSK care
initiatives. The position will serve in the Clinical-X series or
Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the Assistant,
Associate, or Full Professor rank to commensurate with experience
and qualifications.
The UC Davis Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is the premier
surgical service provider in the greater Sacramento region and
beyond and is based on the UC Davis Health campus in Sacramento,
California. Sacramento is an easily accessible, family-oriented
city in close proximity to the San Francisco Bay area, Lake Tahoe
and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the California coast, and Napa
Valley.
EXPECTATIONS
This position will provide inpatient and outpatient care at UC
Davis Health. Interest and skills in orthopaedic shoulder and elbow
repair is strongly preferred. This position will also include the
teaching and supervision of fellows, residents, and medical
students, as well as participate in departmental meetings,
conferences, hospital and departmental committees.
The candidate must possess an M.D. (or equivalent), have completed
an approved Orthopaedic Surgery residency program, be board
certified/eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery and be fellowship-trained
in either sports or shoulder/elbow. The candidate must be eligible
for licensure in the State of California and/or have an active
California medical license prior to appointment start date. Must
have experience in and the ability to teach medical students,
residents, and fellows. Candidates must have the ability to work
cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment and
adhere to University policy and procedures. Demonstrated teaching
experience in an academic clinical setting is preferred. Candidates
in the Clinical X series must demonstrate the ability and
experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research and
must provide evidence of experience obtaining extramural funding
and/or administering clinical trials.
